Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the Yakima StageTwo bike rack on the 2015 Nissan Xterra. So this is a great bike rack, especially if you have your carbon frame stop bike, since it is a front wheel mount, you don't have to worry about warping or damaging your frame, but also great for any of those frames with the weird step throughs. So just odd shaped frames. It's gonna be made out of a durable steel construction. It's gonna last you a long time and be rust resistant as well. more

So, I've said this before, but I like any bike rack that is held on by the front wheel. To me, it just makes it easier to load and unload your bike. And I think it's just a more secure connection than your frame mounted style. But it's gonna be great for your odd shaped frames, as well as your carbon frames. It's not going to warp or damage that frame. more

Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2001 Nissan Xterra- Video
Today on our 2001 Nissan Xterra, we've got out the Curt Premium folding and tilting 4 bike rack. Now this has been designed for use with 2 inch hitches, part number on it is C18064. Something really unique about the rack is going to be the taper that's in the cradle arms. We've got a wider set here on the front and then you can see a narrow set here on the back for smaller bikes or maybe high ridge style bikes. Gives us some options as far as mounting goes. Also the 2 reflectors there on the end they're going to keep it nice and visible. Now in each position regardless if it's in the narrow or the wider position we're going to have 3 straps holding our bikes to the cradles. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2001 Nissan Xterra- Video
Today on our 2001 Nissan Xterra, we have gotten out the Thule Vertex here and we are test fitting it. The vertex is a 4 bike hanging style bike rack, designed to fold and tilt. The part number on it is TH9029XT. We can use this bike rack with 1 1/4 or with 2 inch hitches. It has got an incorporated cable lock, stores on the mast when not in use, comes right here to the end of the arm. That is going to go over each of our bikes and keep them secured to the rack. more

Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2001 Nissan Xterra- Video
Today on our 2001 Nissan Xterra, we've got out the Yakima full tilt and we're test fitting it to see what kind of room we've got between it and the back of the vehicle. Now the full tilt is designed for use with 1 1/4 or with 2 inch hitches. This is a 4 bike hanging style rack designed to fold and tilt. Part number on it is Y02462. Now as you can see here we've got 3 cradles holding our bike in place, anti sway and then 2 here for the top frame too. They're held in with zip strips, to release them we just pinch in on our gray levers and we can pull those on and out. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2001 Nissan Xterra TH912XTR- Video
Today on our 2001 Nissan Xterra we've got the Thule Roadway 2 Bike Hanging Style Rack out. This rack's designed to fold and tilt. Part number on it is TH912XTR. The Roadway uses 3 cradles and straps to hold our bikes in place. We've got two here on the top frame too and also an anti-sway cradle. You can see that's going to do a nice job of keeping that bike from moving too far forward or back. You just want to pull down and out on our straps to release them. more

Today on our 2001 Nissan Xterra, we've got out the Swagman Dispatch and we're doing a test fit on it. The Dispatch is an RV approved platform style 2 bike rack. It's been designed for use in 2 inch hitches. Part number on it S64684. The Dispatch uses a center frame hook and 2 wheel cradles with straps to hold our bikes into place. Each wheel cradle strap is a cum buckle style we just press in the lever and then release our strap. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2001 Nissan Xterra ETTHT2C-2- Video
Today on our 2001 Nissan Xterra, we've got out the Thule T2 and we're test fitting it. Now the T2's a platform style folding and tilting 2 bike rack. It's been designed for use in 2 inch hitches. Part number on it is TH9044. With a simple add on part number TH9046, we can use the hole located right here, put our 2 bike add on there, and convert this right over to a 4 bike rack and interchange as we need to switch from a 2 bike to a 4 bike. It's really nice feature. Another nice feature of it's the ability of it to tilt away from our vehicle even when we've got the bike loaded up. more

Today on our 2001 Nissan Xterra, we're doing a test fit on the Swagman XC2. This is a two-bike, platform style rack. It's been designed so we can use it with the inch and a quarter or with two inch hitches. Part number on it is S64650. Now the XC2 uses a really straightforward system as far as securing our bike. We've got a centrally located frame-hook, this is going to pull down on our bike, and it holds it securely in its two wheel cradle. So, we don't have to mess with the straps, or the hook-in loop, or anything like that. more

Saris Thelma 3 Bike Rack Review - 2012 Nissan Xterra- Video
Today on our 2012 Nissan Xterra, we'll be test fitting the Saris Thelma platform-style hitch-mounted 3-bike rack, part number SA4239B. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll need to take the anti-rattle bolt and thread it into the pin holes from the left-hand side. After tightening it with a wrench, the bike rack is secured, and we'll go over a few measurements. We have about 18" of ground clearance. The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 4" away, and we've added about 14" to the overall length of our Xterra. We can now remove the gold pin at the base of the bike rack and tilt the platform down. more

Softride Hang5 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Nissan Xterra- Video
Today on our 2012 Nissan Xterra, we'll be test fitting the Soft Ride Hang 5 hitch mounted 5 bike rack for 2 inch hitches part number SR26496. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll thread our anti rattle bolt into the pin holes and then tighten it down using a wrench. Now we'll go ahead and slide the arms into the mast. We are going to be installing it this way as the bike rack weights up to about 110 pounds when fully assembled. Separating the 2 pieces will allow us an easier installation. more

Then, we can install our lock. Now, we'll go over a few clearance measurements. We have about 16 inches of ground clearance. The closest point of the bike rack to the rear of our vehicle is right here at the top and is about 7 inches away. We've added about 36 inches to the overall length of our Xterra. We'll undo the cradle straps to expose our cradles, grab our bike, place it onto the frame cradles, and secure it by tightening each strap. more

Today, on our 2012 Nissan Xterra, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow 'n Go 3-Bike Carrier for 2-inch ball mounts, part number HR135. We'll be using the Hidden Hitch Ball Mount with a 3/4 inch rise or 2-inch drop, part number 80232, which is not included. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the ball mount into the receiver tube of the hitch, line up the pin hole, and install our pin and clip. Now, we'll go over some measurements. We have a ground clearance of about 16 inches. Now, keep in mind that this height's going to vary depending on your hitch height, which is the measurement from the ground to the inside top edge of your receiver tube. We'll go ahead and pull the pin at the top of the mast so we can swing out our dual arms. more

Swagman Titan Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Nissan Xterra- Video
Today on our 2013 Nissan XTerra well be test fitting the Swagman Titan four-bike carrier part# s63410. To begin our test fit well slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch. Line up the pinhole and thread in our anti-rattle bolt tightening it with a wrench. Now well go over some key measurements. We have about 20 inches of ground clearance. The closes point of the carrier to the rear of our XTerra is 10 inches. Weve added 23 inches to the overall length of our Nissan XTerra. Well pull the pin at the base of the mast to allow or carrier to tilt away from the vehicle. more

Today on our 2013 Nissan Xterra, we'll be test fitting the Kuat Sherpa aluminum, platform style, hitch-mounted, 2-bike rack, part number S102.To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up the pin hole, and install our pin and lock. Then we'll move to the rear of the shank and use the hand knob to secure our bike rack to our Xterra, and engage our anti-rattle device.Now we'll go over some key measurements. We have about 21" of ground clearance. The closest point of the carrier to the rear of our Xterra is 4 1/2". We've added 17" to the overall length of our Nissan Xterra.We'll pull the lever on the passenger side of the carrier to unfold our carrier. In this position, we can easily gain access to the rear hatch without making any contact with our carrier. more
